2016 NFL TV Schedule for Cord Cutters: Holiday Week 16

December 22, 2016

How to Watch Football this Holiday Weekend without Cable

Ho ho ho. It’s that festive time of the year where we spend time relaxing, stuff our faces with delicious food, spend time with family and (of course) watch some NFL football. If you want to bring in the holidays with a little grid-iron action, but still want to have money left over to buy gifts for loved ones, then stay tuned because we’re going to show you how to watch the NFL without cable.

Thursday Night Football – 12/22

NFL on Twitter

If you don’t have time to go and get an OTA antenna in time for Thursday Night Football, have no fear. This week Twitter will live stream TNF for free, no subscription required. All you have to do is go to tnf.twitter.com and you’re good to go!

New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 8:25 PM, NBC

Although the Eagles started the season strong, they have been on a five game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Giants have been playing very well as of late – with a 10-4 record. But when you look at the match-up, the Eagles have beaten the Giants 4 out of their last 5 games. Will this week be more of the same? Can’t wait to find out!

Saturday Football – 12/24

NFL OTA

It’s simple, it’s easy, it’s cheap. With an OTA antenna, you’ll be able to pick up NBC, Fox, and CBS for FREE (minus the expense of the antenna). No subscriptions, no sign-ups required.  And the best part is that it’s all in 1080i HD.

The only catch is that the games that air, are based on an NFL Broadcasting schedule – just like with standard cable TV. Below we will look at the geo-based broadcast maps, along with the top games of the week.

CBS Single

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots, 1:00 PM, CBS

Hoping to bounce back after a blistering defeat against the Dolphins, the New York Jets will be going up against the New England Patriots. With one of the best records in the league, the Patriots have cruised past opponent after opponent, making a Jets win this week very unlikely. In the past they’ve been able to pull off upset, but this year it might be a case of too little too late for New York.

FOX Early

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers, 1:00 PM, Fox

What better way to cap off 2016 than with a good old fashioned rivalry? After outlasting everyone else to become the final unbeaten team in the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings hit a hard slide that they’ve yet to recover from. The Packers, on the other hand, started out poorly and slowly climbed their way to a positive record and a five game winning streak. Momentum is everything in Football, so I would expect Green Bay to continue their climb up the ladder.

FOX Late

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints, 4:25 PM, Fox

Coming close to upsetting Dallas last week, Tampa looks for another victory over New Orleans for the second time in three weeks. Under 1st year head coach Dirk Koetter, the Bucs hold a lot of promise but it might not be enough this week. Playing at home will give the Saints a critical advantage; combined with a more experience Brees as QB, the Bucs will have a hard (but not impossible) fight ahead.

Sunday Football – 12/25

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 8:30, NBC

Hoping to secure a top-seed in the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs will fight for another victory against the Broncos this season. With a solid record and a home team advantage, victory is certainly within Kansas City’s reach, but the Broncos aren’t always the easiest opponent. With a slim chance of making the playoffs, the defending Super Bowl Champs are going to be playing their most important game of the season; making them a very dangerous underdog.

Monday Night Football – 12/26

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys, 8:30 PM, ESPN

Though Dallas appear to be a solid bet, don’t let that advantage fool you. Both Dallas and Detroit have defied expectations this season. When you combine both their records, 21 out of the last 28 games have been decided by a point or less. Currently the odds have Dallas winning by 7, but if anyone can beat the spread, it’s Detroit.
