World of X Games on ABC: May 2017 Schedule

April 26, 2017

How to Watching the World of X Games Without Cable

If the Olympics is like the grandmother you politely sit with for tea, the X Games is like the uncle that lets you hop on the back of his motorcycle and takes you out for your first beer. You’re not quite sure you’ll get home in one piece but you know it’s going to be fun.

The X Games gatecrashed the world of competitive sports more than 20 years ago and never looked back. With dozens of events over just a handful of days, it’s nearly impossible to watch it all. Luckily, ABC has your back with the weekly World of X Games, packing in event highlights into one dazzling show.

Here’s the OTA schedule for May, sure to satisfy even the most extreme cord-cutter.

Rip to Cabo 2017

May 6th – 2:30 PM ET

Appropriately sponsored by Monster Energy Drink and Honda motorcycles, the World of X Games heads south of the border to Cabo San Lucas. A grueling 1400 mile ride from the California / Mexico border to the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California, this desert ride is invitation only and features some of the world’s most seasoned dirt bike riders. The unforgiving desert landscape can be brutal for new riders, dubbed fresh fish, and experienced riders alike.

Not a race, riders band together to overcome the sand, sun, and formidable Baja landscape. World of X Games compresses this week-long run into one hour of adrenaline pumping action, all in uncompressed high definition television. Ride along with the Desert Assassins as they navigate canyons and cacti in this off-road motorcycle adventure.

WSL #3 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

May 13th – 3:00 PM ET

Rip Curl Pro is a surfing competition held every year at Bells Beach in Victoria, Australia. It’s the longest running surfing competition in history. The world’s most talented surfers have been coming here every Easter since 1961 to compete for prizes and for glory, battling mammoth waves for a shot at greatness.

“Hells Bells” by AC/DC kicks off the competition every morning before the first competition as men and women shred the surf in this leg of the WSL’s Championship tour. Head down under as the World of X Games presents the World Surf League Rip to Curl Pro Bells Beach.

WSL Big Wave Awards 2017

May 20th – 3:00 PM ET

From Ride of the Year to Best Wipeout, the Big Wave Awards honor surfers in seven different categories. Invited surfers submit jaw dropping footage and nominees are selected before the big event.

It all culminates in the Tag Huer XXL Biggest Wave Award where surfers from Hawaii to Portugal dominate the most enormous waves our oceans can muster. World of X Games highlights the best rides and biggest fails of the year in this extreme sports award ceremony

Real Street 2017

May 28th – 3:30 PM ET

If the gorgeous beaches of Australia and Hawaii aren’t your thing, World of X Games takes to the streets where the world’s top skateboarders submit videos and battle for gold, silver and bronze medals in this urban freestyle competition.

Rounding out the X Games Real series, Real Street gives you a behind the scenes look at the making of these video’s as filmmakers document the skills, capture the tricks and cement the legacy of the competitors.
