If the Olympics is like the grandmother you politely sit with for tea, the X Games is like the uncle that lets you hop on the back of his motorcycle and takes you out for your first beer. You’re not quite sure you’ll get home in one piece but you know it’s going to be fun.
The X Games gatecrashed the world of competitive sports more than 20 years ago and never looked back. With dozens of events over just a handful of days, it’s nearly impossible to watch it all. Luckily, ABC has your back with the weekly World of X Games, packing in event highlights into one dazzling show.
Here’s the OTA schedule for May, sure to satisfy even the most extreme cord-cutter.
May 6th – 2:30 PM ET
Appropriately sponsored by Monster Energy Drink and Honda motorcycles, the World of X Games heads south of the border to Cabo San Lucas. A grueling 1400 mile ride from the California / Mexico border to the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California, this desert ride is invitation only and features some of the world’s most seasoned dirt bike riders. The unforgiving desert landscape can be brutal for new riders, dubbed fresh fish, and experienced riders alike.
Not a race, riders band together to overcome the sand, sun, and formidable Baja landscape. World of X Games compresses this week-long run into one hour of adrenaline pumping action, all in uncompressed high definition television. Ride along with the Desert Assassins as they navigate canyons and cacti in this off-road motorcycle adventure.
May 13th – 3:00 PM ET
